What is Aspirin? Aspirin is on of the first drugs to ever be commonly used and is still one of the most widely used in the world. How widely used you ask? Approximately 35000 metric tonnes are produced and consumed every year. Chemically aspirin is known as acetylsalicylic acid with the chemical formula of C9H8O4. Aspirin is an analgesic, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and is an inhibitor of platelet aggregation. The history of Aspirin Aspirin has been a major part of just about everyones lives. From the college kid who had too much fun the night before to the overstressed mother, aspirin is the first thing people turn to for headache and minor pain relief. The most common uses of aspirin are those listed above: aches and pains associated with different conditions, such as arthritis, as well as fever and can aid in a heart attack. Aspirin decreases aches, pain and fever by decreasing the effects of prostaglandins which are partly responsible for the inflammation of an injured area, and producing the heat in a fever. Aspirin helps to reduce platelet aggregation, or decrease the sticking together of the clotting factors in blood, called platelets. Contrary to common belief, aspirin does not break up a blood clot; it just helps to prevent them from forming or getting worse. In addition, recent studies have shown that aspirin or aspirin therapy can help relieve or prevent a wide variety of conditions and complications, including cancers, pregnancy problems and even diseases like Alzheimers. Pregnancy problems such as pre-eclampsia and fetal growth retardation are two of the most common complications of pregnancies. They are both caused by blockages of the blood vessels of the placenta. In a study involving more than 9000 women in 16 countries showed that a daily dose of 60mg aspirin reduced the risk of pre-eclampsia by thirteen percent. I mean, how can they possibly expect us to keep our excellent grades when they give us the chance of choosing our freaking topic!! The hard part on this isnt the fact that we have to writing over 500 words, thats the easiest. But if I dont have a topic given by the teacher, then Ill freak out. I want to keep my high marks at this subject and, once this is a crucial paper for me to maintain my grades, Im just going to talk about how life sucks. Everyone is putting on so much pressure in you, and everyone is always expecting you to do your best that when you happen to fail at something everything falls down, and everyone gets disappointed and thats probably the reason so many teens get depressed so prematurely. Besides the pressure, that Ive already mentioned, if you dont have the right clothes, or the right mobile phone you are pushed away and left all alone because youre not one of them. You can be the finest kid around, you can have a flawless taste in music and you can even have already read the best books in history, but if dont were skirts that almost show up your ass, or if you dont like to play football, then youre a loser. Not having friends and feeling alone at this age are the worst feelings in the world. You start to feel lost and insecure but you dont want to tell anybody because that would make you seem so lousy and such a big loser. You start to accumulate all of those horrible things to yourself and when you cant take it anymore you become depressed, and its that depression that leads you to do something worst. Nowadays suicide is adolescence is one of the most actual problems, and nobody except for us, teens, can understand it. Dont trust our smiles, theyre probably hiding away the truth.
